The Company was launched in 1948 by William Fitton, a coach painter by trade, who in the 1920’s became the first person in the North West to use cellulose based paint products.

In 1966 the Company became a Limited Company. In 1971 William’s son, Bryan Fitton assumed control, and established the premises here at Cottenham Lane, which is within half a mile of Manchester City Centre. We are still a family run business today, with five directors, including Bryan’s daughter, son and niece as Company Secretary. Many of our employees have been with the Company since leaving school and are still with us some 20 years plus later.

In 2013 Motor Body Services (Salford) Ltd will have celebrated its’ 65th anniversary. MBS started predominantly as a vehicle body repair shop, but over the years it has established a Salvage Operation with an excellent reputation.

The salvage operation is situated on a 4 acre site with 24 hour monitored CCTV. Many makes and models of repairable vehicles are for sale, with the majority under 3 years old. The Company has an End of Life Vehicle operation in accordance with the DVLA, in order to scrap unwanted cars. On the back of this MBS has a wide range of recycled parts for sale, therefore disposing of vehicles in an environmentally friendly manner.
